Harry de Wit - a presentation and live performance

Harry de Wit is a well-known and award-winning composer and performer. He operates in film, theatre, dance and installation art in collaboration with a.o. Ivo ten Hove from ITA (www.ita.nl), film director Nanouk Leopold, choreographer Hans van Manen and film director Marjolein Boonstra.

In the following video, recorded by and during the Dutch Media Week, Harry de Wit talks (in Dutch) about these collaborations and the related design processes. In addition he performs some of the music he composed for his collaborators using instruments of all kinds, including some of his homemade instruments.

Composer of experimental music and designer of electro-acoustic installations

Harry de Wit is a Dutch composer of experimental music and designer of electro-acoustic installations. He collaborates with many different disciplines like modern dance, contemporary theatre and film. Next to his collaborative projects, he also creates autonomous work, mostly consisting of sound-installations..

In 2005 Harry de Wit has won an oeuvre prize, the ‘Prosceniumprijs’, for a considerable contribution to Dutch theatre and in 2006 he won The prize of the Dutch Dance Festival in Maastricht. In 2018 he was awarded with a Golden Calf - the most prestigious accolade within the Dutch audiovisual sector - for his music in Nanouk Leopold’s Cobain.
