Huba de Graaff - Here I am / A Lonely Woman

An all female rock performance on a poem by the Persian poet and filmmaker Forough Farrokhzad, a theater concert about rebellion, life and death, performed by performer Imra Dinçer and musicians Dodó Kis, Michaela Riener, Nora Mulder and composer Huba de Graaff herself. Forough Farrokhzad (1935 – 1967) is one of the most important poets of the 20th century in Iran. With her first poem ‘Sin’ from 1958 about female sexuality, she is both famous and reviled. After gaining international fame as a filmmaker, she dies at the age of 32. In her short, free-spirited life, she continuously exceeded social norms. Forough Farrokhzad is a heroine and inspiration to women around the world.

After the performance – depending on the theater – the 20-minute documentary by Forugh Farrokhzad “The House is Black” will be shown.

The performance is open to English speakers.

Huba de Graaff

Composer & artistic director

Huba de Graaff is composer and director for Theatre. She rarely writes pure concert music for an instrumental ensemble. Rather, she is looking for collaboration with theater makers, designers, artists from other disciplines. But without fixed hierarchy of text, sound and image.
