Joep Sporck - Differences between the American and Dutch media industry
Joep Sporck has seen quite a few differences between the film and media industries in Los Angeles/Hollywood and the Netherlands. In Los Angeles/Hollywood, composers invest a lot of money in live musicians and good recordings in order to create an excellent score that might lead to another assignment with a bigger budget. They also collaborate a lot, for example by hiring people to help orchestrate the score and direct the music. While it's ultimately about business in Los Angeles/Hollywood, there is considerable freedom in indie projects and documentaries to experiment and try new things.
