Matthijs Dierckx - Music Composer and Sound Designer for Games
Matthijs has been working in the game industry for almost 25 years, in a very diverse set of roles: journalist, designer, writer, composer & sound designer and event organizer.
Last year he launched the ambitious procedural RPG Unexplored 2: The Wayfarer's Legacy, for which he was awarded the Dutch Game Award for Best Audio & Music, the leading game industry awards in the Netherlands.
Also last year, Iceberg Books published his first book, an epic high fantasy young adult novel, called 'Lost Forest', or 'Het Verdwenen Woud' in Dutch.
Thanks to his work as founder/publisher of game development magazine Control, Matthijs has an extensive network in the game industry, particularly in the Netherlands, and from time to time he still writes about the business of games.
Matthijs teaches at the game developers course of the coding academy at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (HvA). Currently he is mainly working on music & audio for games, but kickstarting a few (undisclosed) projects as game director.
