Coen Konings - Composer & Sound Artist
Coen Konings is a composer and artist based in The Hague. In his work, he explores how human perception colours information. By incorporating elements of physics, mathematics and computing science into his compositions, he engages with the origins of information and the way it is processed. In doing so, he aims to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of the subjective experience.
Born in Amsterdam on May 15, 1998, Konings earned his degree in Computing Science at the University of Amsterdam in 2023, and is currently studying Composition for Electronic Music at Utrecht University of the Arts. Along with his artistic endeavours, he has professional experience in education and innovation, having worked as an educator, software developer and system designer.
Coen’s work has been exhibited at De Nijverheid (Utrecht, the Netherlands) and Eau Mont Jardin festival (Omont, France), among various other events and locations.

Monitor
Monitor is a composition created for Robert Ryman’s painting of the same name. Ryman called himself a realist - his works depict nothing, but present only their materials. In Monitor’s case: the paint and the light in the space the painting occupies. Coen’s composition translates this idea to the medium of sound. It attempts only to present its materials: a set of frequencies, and the sounds of the space it is played in.
